Atsuto & Melissa Kitanobo
We are a husband & wife photography team who specialise in weddings. We love taking natural & candid shots as these will best represent your day and capture your true emotions. With two photographers, you will have photos taken from many angles which will bring the story of your day to life.
Atsuto has been taking wedding photos professionally for 8 years and has grown up with his family’s photography business, which has been operating for over 30 years. He almost always has a camera in hand & lives and breathes photography. I bought my first SLR camera in 1999 and have been passionate about photography ever since, taking it up professionally 3 years ago. My background is in hospitality & marketing, so I have always enjoyed dealing with people and keeping things organised and running smoothly. You’ll find we complement each other well and love working together.
We both have a relaxed style and will do everything possible to help make you feel comfortable in front of the lens, whilst giving you a professional and personalized experience.
We take time to get to know you before your wedding day, so we can better understand what’s important to you & find out about your style as a couple.
We provide a sneak peek of your photos soon after your wedding and then aim to have all of your images edited and ready to give you within 3 weeks of your wedding date. We understand that after your honeymoon you will be itching to see your photos as soon as possible!
We are based on the Gold Coast and are happy to travel, having shot many weddings also in Brisbane and other surrounding areas.
We shoot family portraits, engagement sessions, parties and events, food, commercial photography and various other genres. But it is wedding photography that is closest to our hearts…
OUR STORY
Perhaps we were always destined to take wedding photos. About 2 hours after the very first time we met, Atsuto & I were standing in a chapel, in full wedding attire, exchanging vows in front of 200 strangers. Let me explain…
We first met at a bridal fair in Kyoto, Japan, where a hotel was having a mock-up wedding ceremony to show potential clients – I had been asked to be the “bride” and Atsuto had been asked to be the “groom”. Together we stood in a gorgeous chapel, with a choir, a minister and about 100 engaged couples watching on. Our day was even complete with a ride in an old-fashioned car & me throwing a bouquet to all of the ladies outside the chapel. To our amusement, some even wept during the ceremony.
So that was the first day we met and I have to say that it was quite surreal. We were the bride & groom at the next 3 bridal fairs and through this we struck up our initial friendship. A few years later, we had our real wedding in kimonos at a Japanese temple, followed by another wedding on the Gold Coast for our Australian friends. So we’re no stranger to weddings – we’ve said “I do” six times.
And now we have two beautiful twin girls who have melted our hearts… but that’s another story…
